WET WEATHER OVERFLOW AT KANEOHE PRE-TREATMENT FACILITY

(Thur., Jan. 13, 2011) – The City's Department of Environmental Services responded overnight to a sanitary sewer overflow at its Kaneohe Pre-Treatment Facility.

Stormwater surcharged a manhole located inside the facility near its influent pump station causing 3,000 gallons of untreated wastewater to make its way out a manhole and directly into Kawa Stream, which eventually leads to Kaneohe Bay.

ENV notified the state Department of Health.  The affected area has been cleaned, disinfected and deodorized.  Crews will be posting signs.  Water sampling will take place once the storm event ends.
