BULKY ITEM PICKUP SCHEDULE WEEK OF JANUARY 17-22

(Sat., Jan. 15, 2011) – The City's Department of Environmental Services collects bulky items monthly; however, the Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill is closed and not accepting waste at this time, so City bulky trucks will be picking up only items that can be delivered to recycling companies and H-POWER.

Items ENV will not be picking up are carpets, chairs, sofas, mattresses, box springs, toilets and home renovation debris.  Please hold all of these items and do not place them curbside until further notice.  Bulky trucks will only pick up metal appliances.

The following areas are scheduled to be serviced the week of Jan. 17-22, which are the third Monday and third Wednesday of the month:

  • Monday, Jan. 17:  McCully, Kapahulu, Kaimuki, and the ewa side of Diamond Head to the lighthouse. From Punahou St. to Makapuu Ave., Crater Road and Koko Head Ave.; makai of Bingham St. and Waialae Ave. Waipahu. Kailua (south of Kawainui Canal, north of Kailua and Kuulei roads). Maili (west of Hakimo Rd. and east of Mailiilii Rd.). Mililani (north of Kamehameha Highway and south of H-2 Freeway) and Waikalani Valley.

  • Wednesday, Jan. 19:  St. Louis Heights, Palolo Valley, Maunalani Heights and Wilhelmina Rise. From East-West Rd. to Hunakai St., mauka of Waialae Ave., includes the area of Kaimuki bounded by Waialae Ave., a portion of 21st Ave., 22nd Ave., Diamond Head Rd., Makapuu Ave., Ocean View Dr., and Koko Head Ave. Pearl City (including Hoomalu St.), Pacific Palisades, Pearl Highlands and Lehua Peninsula. Kailua (Lanikai, south of Kailua and Kuulei roads, north of Keolu Dr., including Iana St., including Kaopa in Enchanted Lake.)

To assist ENV, please place the accepted items curbside no earlier than the evening before or by 6 a.m. the day of the scheduled pickup.  Do not block sidewalks, driveways or roadways.  These items will be collected over a 3-4 day period.

The City's Refuse Division will continue its regular manual and automated trash collection.
