Construction Weekly Report for week of March 27, 2011   Scheduled construction for week beginning March 27, 2011 for the Department of Design & Construction, Civil Division (Construction Management Branch), & Wastewater Division (Construction Management Branch).  Roadwork is normally done between the hours of 8:30 AM & 3:30 PM unless otherwise noted.    ***Motorists should anticipate intermittent lane closures when traversing through the area.   AIEA   Aiea Heights Drive Emergency Roadway Improvements:   Work includes road/slope stabilization and pavement resurfacing/rehabilitation (incl. installation of metal guardrail and plastic lumber lagging) below Analio Place and above the horseshoe turn.              (Estimated completion date, May 2011)                   Local Rehabilitation of Streets, Phase 1 (IDIQ#2)   Finished paving Keeamoku St. from Kaihee St to Mauka End and Kalihi St from Maliu St to Mauka End               EWA   Miscellaneous Drainage Improvements at Various Locations (Pohakupuna Road)   Construct additional drain manholes on the existing drain line.               (Estimated completion date, May 2011)               HALAWA   WORK COMPLETED ~ FINAL INSPECTION PENDING Aliipoe Ditch Reconstruction – Halawa Heights, Lalawai Drive and Kahema Place area:   Demolish, remove and reconstruct existing concrete drainage ditch.  Construct maintenance access ramp and driveway.  Install storm drain manholes, drain inlets, trench drain, and 18" drain pipes.  Install new chain link fence.               (Estimated completion date, March 2009)               Rehabilitation of Secondary Streets at Pearl City – Ulune Street (Kahuapaani Street to Kulawea Street), Aiealani Place (Halawa Heights Road to end), Fernridge Place (Halawa Heights Road to end), Halawa Heights Road (Fernridge Place to Mauka end), Hele Mauna Place (Halawa Heights Road to end), Kaimakani Street (Moanalua Road to Ulune Street), Palaialii Place (Halawa Heights Road to end), and Palaialii Way (Palaialii Place to end):   Paving completed.  Punch list for manhole adjustment remaining.                (Estimated completion date, April 2010)     WORK COMPLETED – FINAL INSPECTION PENDING HAWAII KAI   Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2008 (X), Kaumakani Street / Lunalilo Home Road, Kalanipuu Street / Lunalilo Home Road:   Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Relocation of existing regulatory/street signs. Installation of new Heco handhole and conduits. Adjustment of HECO pullbox. Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.               (Estimated completion date, January 31, 2011)                 HONOLULU   Amelia Street Relief Sewer – Amelia Street and adjoining School Street:   Installation of a new 16" sewer line underground along Amelia Street and portion of School Street at Amelia Street               (Estimated completion date, July 7, 2010)                 WORK COMPLETED - FINAL INSPECTION PENDING Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2008 (X), South Beretania Street / Ward Avenue:   Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Relocation of existing regulatory / street signs. Utility adjustments. Upgraded traffic signal system.  Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.               (Estimated completion date, December 10, 2010)                 Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2009 (B), Palolo and Kaimuki:   Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Relocation of existing regulatory/street signs. Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.               (Estimated completion date, June, 2011)                 WORK COMPLETED – FINAL INSPECTION PENDING Iolani Avenue Retaining Wall:   Construction of new CRM fence wall and installation of soil nail tie backs and reinforced shotecrete facing along the retaining wall at 625 Iolani Avenue fronting Dole Community Garden. Restore A.C. sidewalk fronting new CRM wall.  Remove existing trees and re-plant new trees in the Dole Community Garden.   Landscape maintenance period in progress (1/5/11 to 3/5/11).               (Estimated completion date, January 2011)               Iwilei Road and North King Street Drainage Improvements – Intersection of Iwilei Road and North King Street:   Repair 18-inch and 12-inch drain lines, pavement restoration work, curb, gutter and sidewalk restoration, striping, and pavement marking restoration, the construction of sewer jackets and the reconstruction of a curb ramp flare.               (Estimated completion date, June 2011)                   Kalihi/Nuuanu Area Sewer Rehabilitation Phase 1A and 1C: New sewer line and manhole installation on Dillingham Blvd, Puuhale Road, Mokauea Street, and Kalihi Street.  Lane closures Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.                         (Estimated completion date, March 2010)               Kalihi/Nuuanu Area Sewer Rehabilitation Phase 1B: New sewer line and manhole installation on Akina and Kaili Street. Lane Closures Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.                         (Estimated completion date, February 2010)               Kalihi/Nuuanu Area Sewer Rehabilitation Phase 1D: New sewer line and manhole installation on Booth Road and Prospect Street.  Lane Closures Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.                                     (Estimated completion date, December 2009)               Kalihi/Nuuanu Area Sewer Rehabilitation Phase 1G:   New sewer line, manhole installation and sidewalk restoration on Kuakini Street (between Nuuanu Avenue and Pali Highway) is ongoing.  Lane closures Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.                         (Estimated completion date, November 2010)               Localized Rehabilitation of Streets, Phase 3, Nuuanu (Dowsett Highlands), Pacific Heights, Pauoa Valley, Moanalua Valley to west of Fort Shafter, Salt Lake towards Foster Village:   Paving completed. Punch list work remaining.               (Estimated Completion Date, April 2010)             Mokauea Street Improvements between North King Street and Dillingham Boulevard:   Reconstruction concrete curbs and gutters, driveway and some sidewalks; construct new curb ramps; reconstruct and resurface asphalt roadway.  Post paving activities include installation of permanent pavement markings, adjust utilities to finish grade, and re-install traffic loop detectors.               (Estimated Completion May 2011)               Mapunapuna Industrial Subdivision Phase One of Tidal Flooding Remediation Program: Remove existing flap gates and install new check valves at outlet pipes in State channel fronting Kam Highway. Construct new DMH upstream of new check valves. Re-grade swale and adjust Drain inlet to provide positive Drainage into existing Drain system. Reconstruct concrete wall at outlet pipes at State channel. Remove debris and sediment from existing storm drains and channel area. Dewater State channel and install temporary dewatering dams.   At the intersection of Ahua Street and Awaawaloa Street, abandon existing storm drain on Ahua Street and install new storm drain MH on upstream end of abandoned pipe.               (Estimated completion date, April 2011)                 Peterson Lane and Pua Lane Sewer Rehabilitation:   New sewer line and manhole installation in complete on King Street (between Dillingham Blvd. and Peterson Lane), Pua Lane and Peterson Lane.  Repaving of King, Peterson and Pua lane is complete. Punchlist items and reconstruction of Tamashiro market driveway remain.  One lane in each direction will be closed Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.                 (Estimated completion date, December 2009)               Final Inspection in Progress Punchbowl Street and Lusitana Street Drainage Improvements:   The work consists of drainlines and manholes rehabilitation with Cast-in-place-pipe (CIPP) in Punchbowl Street, and 24-inch drainline and curb replacement in Lusitana Street. One lane road closure will be limited to 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday, except for County furlough and holidays, work will begin on January 31, 2011. One lane will be closed to traffic at Lusitana Street and police office will be on-site during work hours.               (Estimated completion date, March 2011)               Final Inspection in providing smooth lateral transitions at all streets and driveways; reconstructing base at bus stop locations; adjusting street monuments, utility manhole frames and covers; installing pavement markings; reconstructing existing asphalt concrete berms with drainage openings. The affected roadways and limits of work are as follows:               Kapiolani Boulevard: From Date Street to South King Street, paving completed.             Isenberg Street: From Kapiolani Boulevard to Bingham Street, paving completed.             Punch list work remaining.               (Estimated completion date, January 2011)               Rehabilitation of Various Streets on Oahu:  IDIQ #1   Pacific Heights Drive and Kamehameha Highway in Haleiwa paving completed. Various Streets in Kapahulu paving completed. Kaneohe will be paved next.               (Estimated completion date, December 2008)                 Saint Louis Heights Sewer Rehabilitation:   Installation of cured in place pipe (CIPP), manhole rehabilitation, and lateral rehabilitation throughout Saint Louis Heights.  The contractor will also install new sewer lines via pipe bursting at 3 locations along Saint Louis Drive and one easement location between Saint Louis Drive and Frank Street.               (Estimated completion date, December 2009)                 Wilhelmina Rise Sewer Rehabilitation:   Installation of cured in place pipe (CIPP), lateral rehabilitation, and replacement of sewer lines by open trench.   (Estimated completion date, November 2010)               Rehabilitation of Secondary Streets at Kaimuki – Palolo Avenue; Pahoa Avenue, 8th Avenue to Kokohead Avenue, 22nd Avenue to Kilauea Avenue; Kapahulu Avenue, Paki Avenue to Kalakaua Avenue; Paki Avenue, Kapahulu Avenue to Poni Mei Street:   Paving completed. Punch list work remaining               (Estimated completion date, June 2010)                   Rehabilitation of Streets Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity IDIQ #3 – Kapahulu: 4th ave, 5th ave, Hookipa Way, Pahoa Ave, Kaimuki Ave, Olu St, Mokihana St, Paliuli St and Charles St. and Kulamanu Place:   The scope of work to be performed by the Contractor under this contract may include, but is not limited to: cold planning; slurry seal; crack seal; reconstructing curb and gutters/rolled curbs; resetting of lava rock curbs; aboricultural work; adjusting street survey monuments, utility manholes/boxes, frames and covers; installing pavement striping and markings; and reinstalling vehicle detector loops.   Olu St from 4th Ave to 6th Ave, Mokihana St from 4th Ave to Mooheau Ave and Kulamanu Pl from Kulamanu St to End are done.               (Estimated completion date, June 22, 2013)                 Rehabilitation of Secondary Streets at Makiki - Kinau St from Alapai St to Waiau Pl, Wilder Ave from Spencer St to Dole St. and Dole St from Wilder Ave to St. Louis Dr.:   The project will demolish, remove and dispose of existing pavements in Honolulu area. Resurface or reconstruct these streets with asphalt concrete pavement.  Adjust manholes and monuments to road grades.  Restore all pavement striping, markings and markers.  Collect GPS data on manholes, street monuments, valve boxes, fire hydrants, and other features as directed by the City before construction begins.   Wilder Ave and Dole St, paving completed.  Kinau St. will start after the state project in the Kinau off ramp is completed.                 (Estimated completion date, March 2011)                       KAILUA   SUSPENDED ~ AWAITING CONTRACTOR TO ADDRESS DEFICIENCIES Rehabilitation of Streets, Unit 42 – Kainehe Street (Kihapai Street to Kailua Road) and Hamakua Drive (Kailua Road to Keolu Drive):   Paving, traffic signal upgrades, adjustment utility manholes frames and covers to grade, vehicle detector loops and pavement markings complete.  Installation of traffic signs, bridge deck joints and deficiency require intermittent lane closures and punchlist items.               (Estimated completion date, November 2007)               WORK COMPLETED ~ AWAITING CONTRACTOR TO ADDRESS DEFICIENCIES Rehabilitation of Streets, Unit 46 – Kailua Road (Hamakua Bridge to Kuulei Road); and Kuulei Road (Kailua Road to Kainalu Drive):   Reconstruct curbs, gutters, sidewalks and roadway pavement; construct new curb ramps and concrete bus pads; resurface roadway, reinstall signage, replace vehicle detector loops and install permanent pavement markings.
