(Mon., Jan. 31, 2011) – The City's Department of Environmental Services collected 19 truckloads of bulky item materials over the weekend after Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill reopened on a limited basis for critical items.

On Saturday, two crews were able to service the entire Waikiki area, picking up three trucks full of bulky items.

Five crews recovered 16 truckloads on Sunday spanning Pearl City to Halawa, Punchbowl, McCully, Moiliili, Makiki and a portion of Waipahu.

Today, crews are in lower Manoa and the Waipahu-Makakilo area.

The City's Refuse Division will continue its regular manual and automated trash collection.
