FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Saturday, April 5, 2014 Media Contact:  Markus Owens, ENV PIO, 768-3454     ENV Responds to Sewer Overflow in Wahiawa   HONOLULU – The City's Department of Environmental Services responded this afternoon to a sanitary sewer overflow in Wahiawa.   ENV received the call at 1:34 p.m., arrived at the site at 3:03 p.m. and released the blockage at 3:35 p.m.   Debris clogged a 6-inch siphon sewer pipe at 77 Karsten Drive in Wahiawa sending 3,720 gallons of untreated wastewater out a manhole and over the side of a cliff and into a steep ravine.   ENV crews cleaned, disinfected and deodorized the area around the manhole.  The state Department of Health was notified and waived signing.                                                    -30-
