Friday, April 4, 2014 Contact: Jesse Broder Van Dyke, 768-6928 Mayor Caldwell and Cabinet "fill the fire truck" for Hawaii Foodbank Honolulu Mayor Caldwell, cabinet members, city staff, and representatives from the Hawaii Foodbank filled a city fire truck to help fight hunger Thursday on the steps of Honolulu Hale. "For 25 years, the Hawaii Foodbank has been feeding Hawaii's hungry families with food donations from their annual food drive," said Mayor Caldwell. "We are all in this canoe together, and if everyone gives something, we can do a lot together to make sure no child goes to bed hungry." Mayor Caldwell and his cabinet members formed a human chain to fill the fire truck with non-perishable food donations from the Caldwell Administration to the Hawaii Foodbank. To further support the Foodbank's efforts, Mayor Caldwell has declared April 2014 as Feed Hawaii's Hungry Month in the City & County of Honolulu. The event is part of the Hawaii Foodbank's 25th Annual Food Drive. The Hawaii Foodbank provides emergency food assistance to 14 percent of Hawaii's population each year. -END- |
