03/25/15 Mayor Caldwell to deliver keynote speech at Western States Institutional Investors Conference in Los Angeles Wednesday, March 25, 2015 Mayor Caldwell's Press Office: 768-5768   Mayor Caldwell to deliver keynote speech at Western States Institutional Investors Conference in Los Angeles Mayor Kirk Caldwell is on a flight to Los Angeles now to deliver the luncheon keynote speech at the 2015 Western States Institutional Investors Conference tomorrow. Mayor Caldwell was asked to speak to provide insight into the effective fiscal policies employed by his administration. The recent affirmation of the city’s outstanding Moody’s Aa1 and Fitch AA+ bond ratings earlier this month led to a highly successful bond sale that will save Honolulu taxpayers $44 million in interest payments.  The General Obligation Bond sale on March 16 and 17 attracted about $2.9 (B) billion in orders, allowing the city to successfully sell approximately $888.635 (M) million of bonds. This distinguishes the City and County of Honolulu as a model municipality for monetary management.  The outstanding bond ratings were assigned after officials from Moody’s and Fitch came to Honolulu earlier this month.  They received presentations from Mayor Caldwell and the Department of Budget and Fiscal Services about Honolulu’s diverse and growing economy and the city’s prudent financial practices, stable revenue base, and proactive debt and liability management. Mayor Caldwell’s keynote luncheon speech takes place tomorrow, Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. Pacific Time in the Los Angeles Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Olympic Room.  Hawai‘i State Director of Finance Wes Machida will also be participating in the conference, providing an update on the financial state of the state at 9:45 a.m. Pacific Time Thursday in the Westside Room.  For more information on the Western States Institutional Investors Conference, please click here.  In accordance with the City Charter, Managing Director Roy K.
