Thursday, May 15, 2014 Contact: Chris Sayers, City Bicycle Coordinator, 768-8335 6th Annual Bike to the Zoo Day this Sunday
Honolulu - This Sunday, May 18, is the 6th Annual Bike to the Zoo Day. The event will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Zoo admission is free for anyone who rides a bicycle to the Honolulu Zoo during the event hours. Bicyclists must enter from the Monsarrat Avenue gate.
The city is providing this free event to encourage people to visit the Honolulu Zoo and ride bicycles for short trips instead of driving their cars. Mayor Kirk Caldwell endorses this multi-modal approach to transportation: "We hope this fun, free event will help people appreciate the value of a bicycle as an alternative to a car for shorter trips." There will be free valet bicycle parking available and the first 200 bicyclists will receive a free bag with prizes. -END- |
