EARTH MONTH CLEANUPS THIS SATURDAY

 

KAPOLEI, HI – The City's Storm Water Quality Branch of the Department of Environmental Services (ENV) is holding two cleanups this Saturday, April 12.

 

ENV is conducting the Iwilei Adopt-A-Block starting at 8:00 a.m.  Volunteers for the cleanup check-in by 7:30 a.m. at the Institute for Human Services (546 Kaaahi Street).  The cleanup lasts two hours and will collect debris from Kaaahi to Sumner streets.

 

The Kawa Adopt-A-Stream cleanup starts at 9:00 a.m., and volunteers meet at Castle High School, Room 37 (near the auditorium).  This cleanup takes two hours and will remove debris and weeds along the banks of the Kawa Stream.

 

ENV partners with businesses, schools, public officials, the state and military organizations.  The cleanups will provide educational materials on reducing trash.

           

Participants should be 12 years old or older, dressed to get dirty, and bring the following:  water, hat, old covered shoes and sunscreen.  All participants must sign a release form to participate.
