Tuesday, April 8, 2014 Contact: Austin Braaten, 971-7151 ***TOMORROW*** Palm removal and replacement in Kaimana Beach area Honolulu Tomorrow, Wednesday, April 9, 2014, a tree care company hired by the city will begin removal of six Coconut Palms and one Date Palm growing in the Kaimana Beach area of Kapiolani Regional Park. Municipal arborists working for the city's Division of Urban Forestry (DUF) have noted health issues with these palms that indicate a high potential for failure, and removal will alleviate any threat to public safety. All work will be conducted within the park so traffic should not be affected. The work is expected to be completed by Thursday, April 10. DUF intends to plant replacement coconut palms shortly after the removal. -END- |
