ALA MOANA REGIONAL PARK TREE REMOVAL RESCHEDULED

(Thurs., March 8, 2012)—The Earpod tree removal at Ala Moana Regional Park, originally planned for today, has been rescheduled to Monday, March 12, 2012, weather permitting.  The change is due to excessive ponding caused by the recent heavy rain, which has rendered the area inaccessible to workers.

The removal will be performed by a Department of Parks and Recreation Urban Forestry Division contractor.  Extraction of the tree is necessary for public safety, as the tree has several structural defects.  Replacement of the tree will be included in a larger planting project for the park in the near future.
