FORT WEAVER ROAD LANE CLOSURE TO AFFECT SEVERAL BUS STOPS

(Fri., March 4, 2011)—Due to the temporary partial closure of Fort Weaver Road in the makai-bound (inbound to Ewa) direction between Aawa Drive and Renton Road, City bus routes E, 42, 44, 91, 101, 201 will not service the makai-bound bus stops at Old Fort Weaver Road, Ewa Family Center, and mauka of Renton Road (Zippy's).

The Fort Weaver Road bus stops located at Hawaii Medical Center West and makai of Renton Road will operate normally and the stop makai of Renton Road will also service Route E.  Route 44 will not operate on Old Fort Weaver Road as it is also closed.  Route 44 will instead use Fort Weaver Road mauka of Aawa Drive.

The State Department of Transportation today announced the temporary partial closure of Fort Weaver Road due to downed utility poles. Makai-bound traffic is being maintained by contra-flowing one of the mauka-bound lanes on Fort Weaver Road, but drivers are recommended to detour to Kualakai Parkway (North-South Road).

This detour is expected to last through the afternoon peak period today.

The City Department of Transportation Services is working with the State Department of Transportation to adjust traffic signal timing to expedite traffic using the Kualakai Parkway route.
