NEW YEAR'S HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

 

(Wed., Dec. 29, 2010)—City government offices will be closed Fri, Dec., 31, 2010, in observance of the New Year's Day holiday.

  • Emergency ambulance, fire, lifeguard and police services will be provided.
  • The People's Open Markets will be open on Dec. 31 and closed on Jan. 1, 2011.
  • Refuse will be collected on Dec. 31 but will NOT be collected on Jan. 1. Convenience centers, transfer stations and the landfill will be closed on Jan. 1.
  • Handi-Van service will operate on its weekend schedule on Jan. 1.
  • City buses will operate on a SUNDAY schedule on Jan. 1.
  • All satellite city halls will be closed on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
  • The Blaisdell box office will be closed on Jan. 1 for the holiday and Jan. 3 for furlough.
  • The Botanical gardens will be open on Dec. 31 and closed on Jan. 1.
  • The Honolulu Zoo will be open on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
  • The municipal golf courses are all open on Dec. 31.  For Jan. 1: Ala Wai, Ewa Villages and Ted Makalena will be open from 7-11 a.m. for 18 holes and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for 9 holes, Kahuku is open 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Pali and West Loch will be closed.

 

These traffic and parking regulations will be in effect on Friday:

 

  • On-street parking will be free, except for the meters on Kalakaua Avenue along Kapiolani Park.
  • Parking will be permitted in tow-away zones where it is allowed on holidays.
  • There will be no coning of commuter traffic lanes.
  • Traffic signals at Kalakaua Avenue and Kapiolani will be three-phase to permit mauka-bound traffic to turn left onto Kapiolani Boulevard.
  • Parking in municipal lots will NOT be free.
