TRAFFIC ALERT:  SEWER PROJECT WILL CLOSE PART OF WAIPAHU STREET

(Thur., Dec. 30, 2010) – The City's Department of Environmental Services announces that a portion of Waipahu Street will be closed to traffic starting January 3, 2011.

Waipahu Street, at the "S" curve between Awamoi Street and the exit of the Waipahu Cultural Center, will be closed between 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, with the exception of holidays and furlough Fridays.

The closure is necessary to complete work on the sewer lines as part of the Waipahu Street/Plantation Village Sewer Rehabilitation project.  The $1.6 million project is expected to be completed by the end of March 2011.

Detours will be set up to assist motorists in the area.
