Mayor Caldwell to walk in annual Men's March Against Violence

Honolulu – Men's March Against Violence, an annual event designed to raise awareness of domestic violence and its impact on communities and families, will be held on Thursday, October 23.

Mayor Kirk Caldwell has proclaimed October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the city, and will participate in the short march, which starts at noon from the State Capitol Rotunda and ends at Skygate Park, located on the grounds of the Frank F. Fasi Civic Center, where a brief rally will be held at 12:20 p.m.

The public is invited to participate and Mayor Caldwell is urging residents, and particularly men who live and work in the downtown area, to please join him during their lunch breaks, to demonstrate a strong, community-based commitment to ending domestic violence.

The City and County of Honolulu is a sponsor of this event, along with Catholic Charities Hawai'i, Domestic Violence Action Center, Kaiser Permanente, Kapi'olani Community College, YMCA, and PHOCUSED.
