***TOMORROW***

AIDS Walk to be held at Fasi Civic Center grounds

Honolulu – The 23rd Annual Honolulu AIDS Walk, an event to benefit the Life Foundation, will start at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, May 24, at the Frank F. Fasi Civic Grounds.

The walk will follow a 1.8 mile route in the area immediately surrounding Honolulu's civic center, including the State Capital, 'Iolani Palace and Honolulu Hale.  The walk will begin and end at SkyGate, where walkers will be able to enjoy entertainment, live local bands, prizes, a keiki area with inflatable bouncers, and food booths.  One traffic lane will be closed on Alapa'i Street, South Beretania Street, Richards Street, and King Street for the duration of the event.

The Life Foundation provides free HIV testing and services for people living with HIV/AIDS on O'ahu.  Last year, the Honolulu AIDS Walk attracted approximately 4,000 participants, raising nearly $220,000. The Life Foundation, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, is expecting an even greater turnout for this year's event, with a goal of raising $250,000.  All of the money raised will be utilized locally, directly impacting the O'ahu community.  This event is presented by the Life Foundation with support from the City and County of Honolulu.
