DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION Honolulu Beginning Monday, February 24, 2014, a tree care company hired by the city will begin the removal of two mature monkeypod trees growing along Kapiolani Boulevard, one near Pensacola Street and the other near South Street. Arborists from the city's Division of Urban Forestry (DUF) have noted several structural issues with these trees due to multiple vehicle impacts. Removal will alleviate the threat of branch or tree failure. DUF intends to plant replacement trees of the same species shortly after the removal. - END - |
