ROAD WORK WEEKLY REPORT

 

Scheduled road work for the week beginning November 7, 2010, for the Department of Design construction, Civil Division (Construction Management Branch), and Wastewater Division (Construction Management Branch) is listed below.  Road work is normally done between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM unless otherwise noted.

 

AIEA

Local Rehabilitation of Streets, Phase 1 (IDIQ#2)  Paving Moanalua Road, Aiea Interchange to Pali Momi Street; manhole adjustments during day; cold planing, reconstruction, and paving during night.  Night work is from Monday night through Saturday morning.

 

AINA HAINA

Rehabilitation of Streets Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity IDIQ #3 – Aina Haina:  The scope of work to be performed by the Contractor under this contract may include, but is not limited to: cold planning; slurry seal; crack seal; reconstructing curb and gutters/rolled curbs; resetting of lava rock curbs; aboricultural work; adjusting street survey monuments, utility manholes/boxes, frames and covers; installing pavement striping and markings; and reinstalling vehicle detector loops.  Hind Iuka Dr from Mona St to End slurry seal is done.

HALAWA

Rehabilitation of Secondary Streets at Pearl City – Ulune Street (Kahuapaani Street to Kulawea Street), Aiealani Place (Halawa Heights Road to end), Fernridge Place (Halawa Heights Road to end), Halawa Heights Road (Fernridge Place to Mauka end), Hele Mauna Place (Halawa Heights Road to end), Kaimakani Street (Moanalua Road to Ulune Street), Palaialii Place (Halawa Heights Road to end), and Palaialii Way (Palaialii Place to end):  Cold planing, reconstructing, and resurfacing pavement.  Reconstructing base at bus stops.  Adjusting street monuments, utility manhole frames and covers, installing pavement markings, reconstructing existing asphalt concrete berms with drainage openings.

HAWAII KAI

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2008 (X), Kaumakani Street / Lunalilo Home Road, Kalanipuu Street / Lunalilo Home Road:  Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Relocation of existing regulatory / street signs. Installation of new Heco handhole and conduits. Adjustment of Heco pullbox. Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.

HONOLULU

Rehabilitation of Secondary Streets at Ala Wai  The project includes: excavating, reconstructing and resurfacing asphalt concrete pavements and base; providing smooth lateral transitions at all streets and driveways; reconstructing base at bus stop locations; adjusting street monuments, utility manhole frames and covers; installing pavement markings; reconstructing existing asphalt concrete berms with drainage openings. The affected roadways and limits of work are as follows:   Kapiolani Boulevard: From Date Street to South King Street, Isenberg Street: From Kapiolani Boulevard to Bingham Street

Amelia Street Relief Sewer – Amelia Street and adjoining School Street:  Installation of a new 16" sewer line underground along Amelia Street and portion of School Street at Amelia Street

Iolani Avenue Retaining Wall:  Construction of new CRM fence wall and installation of soil nail tie backs and reinforced shotecrete facing on retaining wall at 625 Iolani Avenue fronting Dole Community Garden. Restore A.C. sidewalk fronting new CRM wall.  Remove existing trees and re-plant new trees in Dole Community Garden.

Rehabilitation of Localized Streets, Phase 5A – Kahala to Kaimuki Area

Post Paving Activities in-progress.  The work includes permanent pavement markings and adjustment of utility manhole frames and covers to grade.  The affected roadways and limits of work are as follows:

Kalihi Nuuanu Area Sewer Rehabilitation Phase 1B:  New sewer line and manhole installation on Kopke Street.  Kopke Street and Gulick Ave.  Lane Closures Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Kalihi Nuuanu Area Sewer Rehabilitation Phase 1D:  New sewer line and manhole installation on Captain Cook and  Lolena Street.  Lane Closures Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Kalihi Nuuanu Area Sewer Rehabilitation Phase 1G:  New sewer line and manhole installation on Kuakini Street (between Nuuanu Avenue and Pali Highway) is ongoing.  Lane closures Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Rehabilitation of Streets Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity IDIQ #3 – Kapahulu: 4th ave, 5th ave, Hookipa Way, Pahoa Ave, Kaimuki Ave, Olu St, Mokihana St, Paliuli St and Charles St. and Kulamanu Pl.  The scope of work to be performed by the Contractor under this contract may include, but is not limited to: cold planning; slurry seal; crack seal; reconstructing curb and gutters/rolled curbs; resetting of lava rock curbs; aboricultural work; adjusting street survey monuments, utility manholes/boxes, frames and covers; installing pavement striping and markings; and reinstalling vehicle detector loops.  Olu St from 4th ave to 6th ave, Mokihana St from 4th ave to Mooheau ave and Kulamanu Pl from Kulamanu St to End are done.

            (Estimated completion date, June 2013)

 

Rehabilitation of Secondary Streets at Makiki; Kinau St from Alapai St to Waiau Pl, Wilder Ave from Spencer St to Dole St. and Dole St from Wilder Ave to St. Louis Dr.  The project will demolish, remove and dispose of existing pavements in Honolulu area. Resurface or reconstruct these streets with asphalt concrete pavement.  Adjust manholes and monuments to road grades.  Restore all pavement striping, markings and markers.  Collect GPS data on manholes, street monuments, valve boxes, fire hydrants, and other features as directed by the City before construction begins.

            (Estimated completion date, March 2011)

 

Mapunapuna Industrial Subdivision Phase One of Tidal Flooding Remediation Program.  Remove existing flap gates and install new check valves at outlet pipes in State channel fronting Kam Highway. Construct new DMH upstream of new check valves. Re-grade swale and adjust DI to provide positive drainage into existing drain system. Upgrade concrete wall at outlet pipes at State channel. Remove debris and sediment from existing storm drains and channel area. Dewater State channel and install temporary dewatering dams.  At the intersection of Ahua Street and Awaawaloa Street, abandon existing storm drain on Ahua Street and install new storm drain MH on upstream end of abandoned pipe.

            (Estimated completion date, November 2010)

 

Mokauea Street Improvements between North King Street and Dillingham Boulevard:  Reconstruction concrete curbs and gutters, driveway and some sidewalks; construct new curb ramps; reconstruct and resurface asphalt roadway.  Post paving activities include installation of permanent pavement markings, adjust utilities to finish grade, and re-install traffic loop detectors.

            (Estimated Completion April 2011)

 

Rehabilitation of Secondary Streets at Kaimuki – Palolo Avenue; Pahoa Avenue, 8th Avenue to Kokohead Avenue, 22nd Avenue to Kilauea Avenue; Kapahulu Avenue, Paki Avenue to Kalakaua Avenue; Paki Avenue, Kapahulu Avenue to Poni Mei Street.  Excavating, reconstructing and resurfacing asphalt concrete pavements and base; reconstructing base at bus stops; adjusting street monuments, utility manhole frames and covers; installing pavement markings; reconstructing existing asphalt concrete berms with drainage openings.

            (Estimated completion date, November 2010)

 

Peterson Lane and Pua Lane Sewer Rehabilitation:  New sewer line and manhole installation on King Street (between Dillingham Blvd. and Peterson Lane), Pua Lane and Peterson Lane.  Sewerwork is ongoing on Pua Lane.  Repaving of King, Peterson and Pua lane to follow after sewer work is complete.  Pua Lane – One lane in mauka bound direction will be closed Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

            (Estimated completion date, November 2010)

 

Punchbowl Street and Lusitana Street Drainage Improvements:  The work consists of drainlines and manholes rehabilitation with Cast-in-place-pipe (CIPP) in Punchbowl Street, and 24-inch drainline and curb replacement in Lusitana Street. One lane road closure will be limited to 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday, except for County furlough and holidays. Work will begin in December 2010.

            (Estimated completion date, February 2011)

 

Saint Louis Heights Sewer Rehabilitation:  Installation of cured in place pipe (CIPP), manhole rehabilitation, and lateral rehabilitation throughout Saint Louis Heights.  The contractor will also install new sewer lines via pipe bursting at 3 locations along Saint Louis Drive and one easement location between Saint Louis Drive and Frank Street.

            (Estimated completion date, November 2010)

 

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2008 (X), South Beretania Street / Ward Avenue:  Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Relocation of existing regulatory / street signs. Utility adjustments. Upgraded traffic signal system.  Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.

Sewer rehabilitation on various streets on Wilhelmina Rise.  Installation of cured in place pipe (CIPP), lateral rehailitation, and replacement of sewer lines by open trench.

KAILUA

Rehabilitation of Streets Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity IDIQ #3 – Aikahi Park.  The scope of work to be performed by the Contractor under this contract may include, but is not limited to: cold planning; slurry seal; crack seal; reconstructing curb and gutters/rolled curbs; resetting of lava rock curbs; aboricultural work; adjusting street survey monuments, utility manholes/boxes, frames and covers; installing pavement striping and markings; and reinstalling vehicle detector loops.  Slurry seal is in process.

Kalaheo Avenue/Mokapu Road/Aikahi Loop Sewer Rehabilitation:  Installation of Cured In Place Pipe along Mokapu Boulevard, from the intersection of Mokapu and Kalaheo, and Aikahi Loop.

            (Estimated completion date, November 2010)

 

Rehabilitation of Kawailoa Road Bridge over Kaelepulu Stream, Bridge No. 411:  Work includes repair of spalls in the concrete elements; replacement of the deteriorated pedestrian walkway and railing at the upstream side of the bridge; repair of deck joints; replacement of the vehicular guardrail system; and traffic safety improvements at the bridge approaches.

            (Estimated completion date, November 2010)

 

Rehabilitation of Streets, Unit 52 – Keolu Drive (Kalanianaole Highway to Akahai Street); Keolu Drive (Akaakaawa Street to Wanaao Road):  Cold planing; resurfacing and reconstruction of asphalt concrete pavements (ACP); adjustment of utility manhole frames and covers; installation of pavement markings and vehicle loop detectors; reconstruction of existing concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks and Driveways; reconstruction of concrete catch basins; and construction of concrete and asphaltic concrete bus pads.

            (Estimated completion date, November 2010)

 

Seismic Retrofit at City Bridges FY09, Keolu Drive Bridge, and Auloa Road Bridge:  Work consists of making seismic retrofit improvements that include installing: stainless steel bolsters at the deck slab,

concrete bolsters/creep blocks, stainless steel plates across expansion joints, and other miscellaneous bridge improvements.

            (Estimated completion date, November, 2010)

 

Wanaao Road/Keolu Drive Reconstructed Sewer:  Installation of new sewer line along Wanaao Road between Hahani Street and Aoloa Road.

KANEOHE

Rehabilitation of Kamehameha Highway Bridge Over Heeia Stream – Kamehameha Highway in Heeia:  Repair of concrete delamination, spalls and cracks on existing bridge structure; removal and replacement of sidewalk platform; painting of the bridge parapet, chain link fence, and sidewalk's steel structure.

            (Estimated completion date, June 2011)

 

Kaneohe Bay Drive Trunk Sewer Reconstruction:  Installation of new sewer lines, new manholes, and cured in place pipe (CIPP).  Work will occur on Kaneohe Bay Drive between Mokapu Road and Kuono Place, Kaimalu Place and Way, Ikeanani Drive, and Kuakoa Place.

            (Estimated completion date December 2010)

 

Kapunahala Road Retaining Wall near 45-866 Anoi Road  Construction of a concrete retaining wall and railing.  Restore AC pavement, AC sidewalk and AC curb.  Traffic detours will be provided after working hours.

Rehabilitation of Streets Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity IDIQ #3 – Kaneohe: Mokulele Dr and Kaneohe Bay Dr.  The scope of work to be performed by the Contractor under this contract may include, but is not limited to: cold planning; slurry seal; crack seal; reconstructing curb and gutters/rolled curbs; resetting of lava rock curbs; aboricultural work; adjusting street survey monuments, utility manholes/boxes, frames and covers; installing pavement striping and markings; and reinstalling vehicle detector loops.  Slurry seal is in process.

MAKAKILO

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2008 (X), Anipeahi Street / Makakilo Drive, Panana Street (Mauka Lani Elementary School Exit):  Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Relocation of existing regulatory / street signs.  Installation of new Heco handhole. Adjust Hawaiian Telcom pullbox. Upgraded traffic signal system. Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2010)

MANOA

Manoa Valley Drainage Improvements at 3088 and 3090 Kahewai Place: Removal of existing concrete headwall and drain pipe, installation of new drain manhole and 18" RCP drain pipe, and construction of CRM drain outlet structure and base.

NIU VALLEY

Seismic Retrofit of City Bridges at Various Locations, FY 08 – Halemaumau Street Bridge:  Halemaumau St./Haleola St.  Installation of concrete shear keys and restrictor boots.  Repair concrete spalls and cracks.

NUUANU

Rehabilitation of Kimo Drive Bridge Over Nuuanu Stream, Bridge No. 260  Repair of spalls and cracks in concrete elements, concrete sidewalk topping and curb, construction of new metal railing atop existing guardrail, modification of bridge drainage system, erosion control of bridge stream embankment.

 

PALOLO

Rehabilitation of Secondary Streets at Kaimuki – Palolo Avenue, Waialae Avenue to 10th Avenue in Palolo Valley.  Paving completed, working on manhole adjustments.

PEARL CITY

Rehabilitation of Secondary Streets at Pearl City – Hoolaulea Street below Moanalua Road  (Waimano Home Road to Hoomoe Road), Nanakai Place (Nanakai Street to end), Nanakai Street (Waimano Home Road to Hoomalu Street), Puu Kipa Street ( Nanakai Street to Nanakai Street):  Paving completed.  Punch list for manhole adjustment remaining.

            (Estimated completion date, November 2010)

 

Manana Infrastructure Improvements, Phase VI – Connector Road (Kuala Street to Kuahaka Street)  Construct 60-foot wide roadway from Kuala Street to Kuahaka Street. The work includes, vector control; clearing, grubbing and grading; installation of new storm drain, Heco, Hawaiian Telcom, street light and traffic signal systems; concrete slab protection for existing sewer and water lines; grade adjustments in private lots; new noise and retaining walls, chain link fence and gates: reconstruction of existing drain, water and sewer MHs and valves to new finish grade; installation of curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveways, curb ramps and sidewalk culverts; installation of irrigation system and landscape improvements; tree removal and pruning in private lots; road paving; pavement markings and markers and street signs.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2010)

 

Waimalu Sewer Rehabilitation/Reconstruction Phase I:  Installation of new sewer lines/man holes and reconnection of existing sewer laterals along Hekaha, Kanuku, Lokowai, Lii-Ipo, Pahemo, and Olepe.

Protective Chain Link Fencing at Various Locations, FY-04 – Waimano Home Road:  

Removal and replacement of CMU wall, guardrails and chain link fence.

PEARLRIDGE

Rehabilitation of Secondary Streets at Pearl CityKaonohi Street ( Kaonohi Place to entire loop), and Kaonohi Street (Kamehameha Highway to Moanalua Road):  Cold planing, reconstructing, and resurfacing pavement.  Reconstructing base at bus stops.  Adjusting street monuments, utility manhole frames and covers, installing pavement markings, reconstructing existing asphalt concrete berms with drainage openings.

SALT LAKE

Protective Chain Link Fencing at Various Locations, FY-04 – Luaole Street:  Removal of damaged fence and installation of new chain link fence and posts.

Rehabilitation of Streets, Unit 58 – California Avenue (Kamehameha Highway to mauka end of California Avenue):  Cold planing; resurfacing and reconstruction of asphalt concrete pavement; adjustment of utility manhole frames and covers; installation of pavement markings and vehicle loop detectors; reconstruction of existing concrete curbs, gutters, berms, sidewalks and Driveways; and construction of concrete and asphalt concrete bus pads.

WAIANAE

Mailiili Stream Flood Control Improvements – Near Halona Road and Puuhulu Road:  Removal and reconstruction of damaged concrete channel lining, construction of new channel access ramp near Halona Road Bridge, and construction of overflow side-drains on the channel banks.

WAIKIKI

WAIMANALO

Retaining Walls Along Waikupanaha Street, Box Culvert No. 5.  Retaining wall footings poured and walls being formed (Sta 0+00 to 0+12).

WAIPAHU

Waipahu Street Retaining Wall Repair & 16th Avenue Boulder Basin Dam Wall Reconstruction:  Demolish and rebuild retaining wall, curb ramp, and portion of sidewalk adjacent to Waipahu Elementary School.  Awaiting staging area approval from DPR.  Tentative start of construction date set for October 23, 2009.

Rehabilitation of Paiwa Street (Farrington Highway to Waipahu Street), Waipahu Street (Hianakiu Street to Kaupu Place), Makoa Street (Puia Street to end to end), Puia Street (Anonui Street to Eleu Street, and Heahea Street to deadend):  Cold planing, reconstructing, and resurfacing pavement.  Reconstructing base at bus stops.  Adjusting street monuments, utility manhole frames and covers, installing pavement markings, reconstructing existing asphalt concrete berms with drainage openings.
