02/13/15 Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve closed due to box jellyfish Friday, February 13, 2015 Mayor Caldwell's Press Office: 768-5768 (cell 489-0341) Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve closed due to box jellyfish Hawai‘i Kai – Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve was closed today at approximately 10:21 a.m. due to an influx of box jellyfish.  Only the beach portion of Hanauma Bay is closed and visitors may still go to the upper area to enjoy the scenic view.  Lifeguards are monitoring the situation to determine when the park will reopen for snorkeling. -END-
