Hawaiian Isles Water and Hawaiian Airlines team with C&C to send Iselle recovery supplies to Hawai'i Island

Honolulu – The City & County of Honolulu is sending 360 cases of bottled water to Hawai'i Island today to be distributed to Iselle storm victims in Puna and surrounding areas, thanks to the generosity of two local companies.

Hawaiian Isles Water Company is providing five pallets of bottled water, 360 total cases.  Hawaiian Airlines is flying the bottles to Hilo today as space allows on their flights at no charge.

The mayors of Honolulu, Maui and Kauai held a conference call with Hawai'i County Mayor Billy Kenoi to ask what the other islands could do to assist with the recovery.  Mayor Kenoi replied that one of their most urgent needs was for drinking water in storm-damaged Puna, where running water is not available.

Staff from Mayor Kenoi's office will pick up the pallets and join County of Hawai'i emergency response workers in distributing the bottles to Puna residents.

"I want to thank Hawaiian Isles Water and Hawaiian Airlines for making this donation on behalf of the people of O'ahu," said Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell.   "I also want to thank Aloha Air Cargo for their willingness to assist today.  Honolulu stands with Puna as they recover from Iselle."
