'Honu by the Sea' performance to open ocean exhibit at Honolulu Hale

Honolulu In observation of National Oceans Month, the City and County of Honolulu will be hosting the "Ka 'Ike o ka Moana: The Knowledge of the Ocean" exhibit at Honolulu Hale, opening June 5 at 5 p.m.

The opening event will include a live performance of an excerpt from the musical Honu by the Sea.  Created and composed by Johnson Enos, the musical follows the adventure of a Waikiki beach boy who finds a magical sea star that lets him spend a day underwater with several amazing ocean characters.

Ka 'Ike o ka Moana is an ocean-themed exhibit featuring ocean-inspired art, as well as educational displays provided by the Waikiki Aquarium and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, will run from June 5 – 19.  Honolulu Hale, located at 530 South King Street, is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

"Ka 'Ike o ka Moana: The Knowledge of the Ocean" is organized and curated by the Mayor's Office of Culture and the Arts in conjunction with the Waikiki Aquarium and the NOAA.  For more information please call 768-MOCA (6622).
