Friday, January 17, 2014 Contact: Austin Braaten, Park Grounds Improvement Supervisor II, 971-7151 Kapiolani Regional Park ironwood trees to be removed Waikiki On Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, a contractor hired by the city will remove five severely decayed ironwood trees near the Kapiolani Park bandstand. Municipal arborists working for the city's Division of Urban Forestry (DUF) have noted a decline in the health of the trees over the past several years due to advanced age. The removal of the trees is necessary to eliminate the threat of branch or tree failure. DUF intends to plant new ironwood trees in the same location. -END- |
