CITY HONORS EMPLOYEE AND MANAGER OF THE YEAR

 

 

(Thu., August 16, 2012) − Department of Environmental Services Charge Program Supervisor Wynette K. Nagai was named City Employee of the Year and Honolulu Board of Water Supply Water Resource Program Administrator, Barry A. Usagawa was named City Manager of the Year at the Mayor's Awards Program held on August 2, 2012, at the Mission Memorial Auditorium.

 

Wynette K. Nagai assists customers with their accounts and effectively resolves customer concerns at the Refuse Division Administrative and Business Accounts Branch. In addition, Nagai supports the division through administrative duties and by coordinating employee activities.

 

As Water Resource Program Manager, Barry A. Usagawa encourages his staff to reach their highest potential and develop their skills by involving them in high-level projects, and matching their abilities to assignments.  Usagawa established a successful, unified team of employees and a work environment based on cooperation, trust, and shared decision making.

 

            In addition to recognizing the employee and manager of the year, HPD Officer Marc K. Cobb-Adams received the Valor Award and Gordon D. Nelson was named the Outstanding Deputy Corporation Counsel. Each of the 24 nominees for Employee of the Year and Manager of the Year were recognized.

 

            The Citizen's Selection Committee included Eddie Flores, president of L & L Franchise, Inc., Lloyd Kawakami, president of Iolani Sportwear, and Joelle Chiu of Vitus Group.
