FIG TREE REMOVAL AT CARTWRIGHT FIELD

(Tue., August 28, 2012) — A Division of Urban Forestry contractor will remove a Moreton Bay fig tree on the Kinau Street side of Cartwright Field on Thursday and Friday, August 30–31, 2012, beginning at 7:30 a.m. and continuing until 3 p.m.  Although the work will mainly impact the park area, motorists are advised to use alternate routes as some lanes may be closed intermittently during the day.

Cartwright Field is adjacent to Kinau, Keeaumoku, and Makiki Streets.  The tree was recently inspected by a staff arborist and found to have several defects warranting extraction.  A replacement tree will be planted shortly after removal.

For more information, contact Austin Braaten at Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Urban Forestry at 971-7151.
