(Fri., October 7, 2011)The City's 26th Annual Holiday Wreath Contest is right around the corner, and this year's theme, Holoholo Holiday is sure to entice the imaginations of our island's foremost artisans.

Organized by the Mayor's Office of Culture and Arts, the top prize of $200 will be presented for the most ingenious wreath creation.  There are three contest divisions:  Adult, open to any individual or group, ages 18 and older; Children and Youth, for individuals or groups, ages 17 or younger; and Theme Catagory, for individuals or groups who best depict the theme, Holoholo Holiday.

A ribbon and monetary award will be given to the winners in each division.  The first place prize is $150; second place is $100; and third place is $75.  An overall "Best in Show" will receive the Mayor's Holly Award worth $200, while six "Judge's Choice Awards" will be presented monetary prizes of $25.  Only one award will be presented to any one individual or group.  Judging will be based on workmanship, creativity, and use of materials.  Wreaths in the theme category will be judged on the entrant's incorporation of the theme into the wreath.
