ROOTS CAUSE SSO ON POOLA STREET

(Mon., Oct. 17, 2011)The City's Department of Environmental Services responded this evening to a sanitary sewer overflow at 5393 Poola Street.

The call came in at 7:53 p.m. An ENV crew arrived at 8:45 p.m. and secured the site at 11:05 p.m.

Roots clogged an 8-inch sewer pipe causing 4,200 gallons of raw wastewater out a cleanout and into a storm drain. An ENV Vactor truck was able to recover 1,950 gallons.  Because of the distance and conditions in the storm drain, the crew determined it was highly unlikely the spill would reach receiving waters.

ENV cleaned, disinfected and deodorized the affected area and notified the state Department of Health.
