               GREASE CAUSES SPILL IN WAHIAWA

(Wed., Aug. 17, 2011) – The City's Department of Environmental Services responded this evening to a sanitary sewer overflow in Wahiawa.

Grease clogged an 8-inch vitrified clay pipe at 1375 California Avenue sending 1,700 gallons of untreated wastewater out a manhole and into a storm drain that leads to the Wahiawa Botanical Gardens.

ENV notified the state Department of Health.  The affected area along the road has been cleaned, disinfected and deodorized.  Crews will initiate signing within the gardens at first light.
