TRAFFIC ADVISORY: TREE REMOVAL AND PRUNING TO AFFECT MANOA ROAD

(Thurs., July 28, 2011)—The City and County of Honolulu advises motorists to use precaution and alternate routes when work begins Monday, August 1, 2011, to remove and prune mature trees along Manoa Road, between the five-way stop and Puu Nanea Place.

The Department of Parks and Recreation's Division of Urban Forestry recently performed health evaluations on 17 trees along the route and found it necessary to remove two of the trees.  According to park officials, mature-sized branches of the monkeypod trees will be pruned to reduce their reach over the residences in accordance with industry standards, and general pruning will be performed on the remaining tree species.

The work is scheduled during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.  No work will be performed on the weekends.
