THREE EVENTS TO AFFECT TRAFFIC ON JUNE 10 - 12

 

(Thurs., June 9, 2011)−Three events will affect traffic in Waikiki and Downtown during this holiday weekend.  Motorists should plan to bypass these areas to avoid delays.

 

Pan-Pacific Matsuri in Hawaii Block Party

 

            On Friday, June 10, Kalâkaua Avenue from Lewers Street to Uluniu Avenue will be closed from 4:30 p.m. to midnight for the Pan Pacific Matsuri in Hawaii Block Party.

 

King Kamehameha Celebration Parade

 

On Saturday, June 11, the following streets will be closed for the King Kamehameha Celebration Parade from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

 

  • S. King Street from Bishop Street to Punchbowl Street.
  • Punchbowl Street from S. King Street to Nimitz Highway.
  • Nimitz Highway, makai lanes from Alakea Street to Bishop Street.
  • Ala Moana Boulevard, makai lanes from Bishop Street to Kalâkaua Avenue.
  • Kalâkaua Avenue, from Ala Moana Boulevard to Monsarrat Avenue.
  • Monsarrat Avenue from Kapahulu Avenue to Paki Avenue.

 

Intersecting streets along the parade route will also be closed as the parade passes. Roads will reopen as parade units clear the area.

 

Pan-Pacific Matsuri in Hawaii Parade

 

On Sunday, June 12, Kalâkaua Avenue from Kûhiô Avenue to Kapahulu Avenue will be closed from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the Pan Pacific Matsuri in Hawaii Parade. Intersecting streets along the parade route will also be closed as the parade passes. Roads will reopen as parade units clear the area.
