COMMUNITY SERVICES GRANTS AVAILABLE

(Mon., Nov. 29, 2010)—The Department of Community Services is seeking proposals from community-based nonprofit organizations, service providers, and other interested parties for:

(1)     The SPECIAL NEEDS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (SNAP) Grant In Aid; and,

(2)     SPECIALIZED SERVICES TO ADDRESS NEEDS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE HOMELESS.

Funds were appropriated for Fiscal Year 2011 for the following purposes: human services, housing, urban renewal and community development programs.

SPECIAL NEEDS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (SNAP)

A total of $650,000 in general funds is available to qualified agencies for the provision of:

·        Basic needs assistance;

·        Mental health services;

·        High-risk youth services;

·        Employment and vocational training services.

SPECIALIZED SERVICES TO ADDRESS NEEDS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE HOMELESS

A total of $350,000 is anticipated to be available for an Outreach Assistance and Referrals Program and a Work Readiness/Training Program. Qualified agencies seeking funds through this RFP shall be subject to the following:

1.      Outreach Assistance and Referrals Program

·        Up to $145,000 shall be made available to no more than three (3) organizations to provide salaries and fringe benefits, and necessary operational expenses such as bus passes, taxi vouchers, moving expenses (transportation costs) and cell phones for Team staff;

·        Services to be funded by this grant-in-aid must commence within one (1) month of the execution of the Grant Agreement and the City's Notice to Proceed;

·        Proposals shall be limited to funding for one (1) year from the execution of the Grant Agreement and the City's Notice to Proceed.

2.      Work Readiness/Training Program

·        Up to $195,000 in grant-in-aid funds shall be available to one (1) organization to provide for salaries and fringe benefits, and necessary operational expenses such as supplies and transportation;

·        Proposals shall be limited to funding for one (1) year from the execution of the Grant Agreement and the City's Notice to Proceed.

Proposals must be submitted to the Department of Community Services at the above address by 4 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2010.
