CALIFORNIA AVENUE IN WAHIAWA TO RECEIVE MAJOR REPAIRS

(Tues., Oct. 26, 2010)—California Avenue in Wahiawa will be repaired and resurfaced from its east end to Kamehameha Highway over the next 14 months.

The $7.2 million project will help ensure the busy thoroughfare is safe and smooth for years to come. Work will include demolition and removal of existing pavements, curbs and/or gutters; installation of aggregate base course, geogrid and woven geotextile, asphalt concrete base and asphalt concrete pavement; installation of grade adjustment curb; construction of new concrete slabs, curbs and gutters; tree and root trimming and pruning as necessary; adjustment of street monuments and manholes; restoration of all pavement loop detectors, striping, markings and markers.

Work hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Motorists are advised to expect lane closures and delays, and to allow extra travel time while driving through work areas. Concrete work began this week.

The City's contractor for the project is Road Builders Corporation. The work is expected to be completed within 425 days.
