PUBLIC ACCESS TO TRAFFIC CAMERAS TEMPORARILY RESTRICTED(Fri., Oct. 28, 2011)Access to Images from live traffic cameras operated by the City Department of Transportation will be restricted from approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2011 through Monday, November 14, 2011. Traffic information regarding weekday commutes will continue to be provided to the news media. Urgent alerts and emergency information will be issued by City agencies such as the Department of Emergency Management, the Board of Water Supply and the Police Department using the City's emergency e-mail and text messaging system, known as Nixle. Information will also be disseminated via the city's social media tools on Twitter and/or Facebook. The City regrets any inconvenience resulting from these temporary security precautions and asks for the public's patience. Media representatives and the public may sign-up for Nixle alerts by logging on to www.nixle.com/dem (The service is free but standard text messaging rates may apply).
