EMERGENCY SHELTER OPENS ON LEEWARD COAST

 

(Thurs., Jan. 13, 2011) -- Leeward Coast residents, in need of shelter due to continued flooding, can go to the Waianae District Park Gymnasium, located at  85-601 Farrington Highway.   

 

Residents should be aware that this is a refuge shelter with limited supplies on hand. Residents wishing to stay at this shelter should bring additional supplies with them such as:

·       Blankets

·       Sleeping bags or additional warm blankets

·       Change of clothing

·       Toiletries

·       Food

·       Necessary medications

·       Additional care items for babies, young children and the elderly.

 

This shelter will be managed and operated by the American Red Cross. 

 

Additional shelters may be opened if needed.  If you have a flood-related emergency or require emergency sheltering, call 9-1-1 immediately.

 

In addition, Paakea Road is blocked at Hakimo Road and at Mailiili Road due to ponding.  Avoid these areas if possible.
