TRAFFIC ADVISORY:  SCHOOL STREET AND NUUANU AVENUE     (Tues., March 22, 2011) – City crews from the Department of Design and Construction  will continue emergency repair work tonight after yesterday's sink hole left an opening in the road on School Street near Nuuanu Avenue.   Crews worked throughout the night and determined the cave in did not damage the 15-inch wastewater pipe but did damage the adjacent manhole.   School Street will be closed from Nuuanu Avenue (near 7-11) to Aala Street from 8:00 p.m. tonight till 5:00 a.m. Wednesday morning during which time no right or left turns will be allowed from Nuuanu Avenue on to School Street.  Starting at 5:00 a.m., one lane will be opened on School Street in the affected area.   Message boards will be up at School/Nuuanu and Vineyard Boulevard advising motorists to detour to Vineyard Boulevard and to use Aala Street to get to the H-1 Westbound ramp.    -30-    Contact:  Collins Lam, Director, Department of Design & Construction  768-8480
