October 8, 2014 Contact: Jon Hennington, PIO, Department of Parks and Recreation, 768-3046 26th Annual Talk Story Festival to be held October 17 & 18 at McCoy Pavilion Ala Moana The Department of Parks and Recreation will host the 26th Annual Talk Story Festival on October 17 and 18, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m. each night at McCoy Pavilion in Ala Moana Regional Park. On Friday night, SPOoOoKY stories will be shared by the following tellers: Rachel Chapman, Sandra MacLees, Kuniko Yamamoto, Charles Johnson, Kathy "Tita" Collins with Jeff Gere, Serina Dunham, Daniel Martinez, Pat Masters, Karen Yamamoto-Hackler, and Ed Chevy. On Saturday night, Pele & Hi'iaka Epics (a narrative relay tellers pass the tale along, one to the next) will be shared by: Kuniko Yamamoto, Sandra MacLees, Daniel A. Kelin II, Sam 'Ohu Gon, Kalama Cabigon, Jeff Gere, Kilohana Silve, Moses Goods, and Kathy "Tita" Collins. Talk Story Festival is Hawai'i's oldest and largest storytelling celebration. Nine storytellers each night share the stage for 20 minutes each, accompanied by gifted sign language interpreters (storyteller lineup is subject to change). Gates open at 5 p.m. This event regularly draws large crowds, so guests are encouraged to come early. The event is sponsored by Aqua Hospitality and Aloun Farms. -END- |
