FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 19, 2010 MAYOR CARLISLE CALLS FOR SAFE AND SOBER HOLIDAY DRIVING (Fri., Nov. 19, 2010)Mayor Peter Carlisle today joined Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to remind everyone to drive safe and sober, especially during the holiday season, and urged drivers to tie red ribbons to their vehicles in support of MADD's "Tie One On For Safety" campaign. "Everyone loves to have fun and enjoy the holidays with friends and family, but everyone should understand that driving while impaired by alcohol is never acceptable," said Carlisle, who helped distribute red ribbons with MADD at Tamarind Square and will make them available to City employees. The ribbons represent drivers' pledges to drive safe, sober and buckled up, and remind other drivers and passengers to do the same. Carlisle and MADD urge party hosts to offer non-alcoholic beverage options and to provide alternative transportation or accommodations for guests who have been drinking.
