IT'S A KALAKOA KALIKIMAKA FOR THE

CITY'S 25TH ANNUAL WREATH CONTEST

The City's 25th Annual Holiday Wreath Contest is right around the corner, and this year's theme, Kalakoa Kalikimaka, is sure to entice the imagination of our island's foremost artisans.

Organized by the Mayor's Office of Culture and Arts, the annual wreath contest provides residents and visitors with an opportunity to showcase their talent and participate in the City's Honolulu City Lights annual event.  There are three contest divisions:  Adult, open to any individual or group, ages 18 and older; Youth, for individuals or groups, ages 17 or younger; and Theme, for individuals or groups who best depict the theme, Kalakoa Kalikimaka.

A ribbon and monetary award will be given to the winners in each division.  The first place prize is $150; second place is $100; and third place is awarded $75.  An overall "Best in Show" will receive the Mayor's Holly Award of $200, while six "Judges Choice Awards" will be presented monetary prizes of $25.  Only one award will be presented to any one individual or group.  Judging will be based on workmanship, creativity, and use of materials.  Wreaths in the theme category will be judged on the entrant's incorporation of the theme into the wreath.

Rules and entry forms are available online and at satellite city halls.  Entries will be accepted on Monday, November 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Lane Gallery of Honolulu Hale, 530 South King Street, first floor.  No early or late entries will be accepted.  Each entry must include a wreath contest entry form.
