WASTEWATER SPILL IN WAIPAHU SECURED (Thurs., Oct. 14, 2010)The Department of Environmental Services responded this afternoon to a wastewater spill in Waipahu, where approximately 8,250 gallons of raw wastewater escaped from an 8-inch vitrified clay pipe clogged with grease at 94-307 Hilihua Way. The wastewater entered a nearby canal that empties into the Middle Loch of Pearl Harbor. The state Department of Health has been notified. The call was received at 3:15 pm, crews arrived at 4:35 pm, and the spill was secured by 6:00 pm. -30- |
