December 11 2014 Land Use Research Foundation: 521-4717 Mayor Caldwell's Press Office: 768-5768 (cell 489-0341) Land Use Research Foundation and city agencies to hold industry housing summit Kaka'ako The Land Use Research Foundation Hawaii is partnering with the City and County of Honolulu on a Housing Summit tomorrow. It will be held Thursday December 11th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center Pikake Room. Participants include the city's Department of Planning and Permitting, Transit Oriented Development office, Department of Community Services, and the Honolulu City Council; the state's Hawaii Housing Finance & Development Corporation, Hawaii Community Development Authority, Hawaii Public Housing Authority, and Department of Hawaiian Homelands, and the Hawaii State Legislature; the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development; Kauai, Maui, and Hawaii county executive and legislative branches; private developers; housing experts; and community organizations. The purpose of the summit is to share updated housing information regarding state-wide status of housing for all income levels and discuss the housing initiatives of various housing stakeholders, educate policy makers, media, organizations and individuals; and discuss possible actions that could be taken to increase the supply of affordable housing. Mayor Kirk Caldwell will address the summit at approximately 8:30 a.m. -END- |
