December 10, 2014 Mayor Caldwell's Press Office: 768-5768 (cell 489-0341) 14th Annual Kapolei City Lights opens this Saturday Kapolei Kapolei City Lights will celebrate its 14th year of tree lighting and holiday festivities this Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Kapolei Hale. The Electric Light Parade will start at the Kapolei Fire Station on Kapolei Parkway to the west end of Kama'aha Avenue at 6 p.m. Leading the parade will be 25 community keiki art contest winners, whose works were chosen from more than 3,500 entries, and Disney's Mickey and Minnie Mouse will serve as the parade's grand marshals. Opening night festivities at Kapolei Hale will include Managing Director Ember Shinn lighting the 45 foot tree, followed by fireworks, entertainment by the Nanakuli Performing Arts Academy, and a dazzling display of decorated trees, wreaths, and art contest entries. In Santa's Village, keiki will enjoy free games and inflatables, as well as a visit from Santa. Food trucks will open at 5 p.m. Kapolei City Lights is sponsored by the City and County of Honolulu in partnership with the Friends of Kapolei Hale and the support of community sponsors. -END- |
