Tuesday, July 15, 2014 Contact: Mayor Caldwell's Press Office, 768-5768 Repair work at intersection of Hamakua Drive and Kailua Road Kailua The City and County of Honolulu is advising motorists to use caution and expect delays driving into Kailua town this week. A broken sewer line is suspected to be the cause of the sink hole that developed Friday, July 11, 2014, at the intersection of Hamakua Drive and Kailua Road. The city has hired Frank Coluccio Construction Company to uncover and repair the suspected broken pipe. A pump bypass is set up around the construction site to keep wastewater flowing to the Kailua Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. Crews are expected to be working around the clock for an estimated week, with at least two lanes on Kailua Road closed, traveling into Kailua town. -END- |
