CARLISLE SIGNS NEW SISTER-CITY PACT WITH FENGXIAN DISTRICT, CHINA (Thurs., Aug. 23, 2012)Mayor Peter Carlisle today joined Mayor Zhuang Shaoqin of Fengxian District, Shanghai, China to sign a new agreement establishing sister-city ties. "Fengxian District is a vibrant, growing community that we're very proud to call our sister," Located along the coast in South Shanghai, Fengxian District has a population of more than one million and a growing economy based on sea resources and agriculture, manufacturing, bio-medical science, new energy and tourism. Fengxian District's beaches, resorts and natural beauty make it a popular visitor destination. The City Council approved the new sister-city relationship with Fengxian District on July 11, 2012.
