Honolulu - The City and County of Honolulu Commission on Culture and the Arts will commission a work of art for the Wai‘anae Police Station replacement building, located at 85-939 Farrington Highway. Artists are encouraged to submit a proposal by the August 7, 2015 deadline. The budget for this project is $70,000.
The Commission seeks an artwork that tells a story of the Wai‘anae area and enhances the exterior of the building. The artwork area is the decorative band, 65 feet wide by five feet high, between the first and second floors on the building’s east side. The artwork may be a fresco, frieze, mosaic, mural, sculpture, or other wall-mounted work of art that is permanently installed, and must be of a durable material.
