January 27, 2015 Traffic Advisory: Lane closures planned along Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) wants to inform drivers of lane closures along Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City beginning Monday, February 2 as part of rail construction. The 24-hour lane closures, which start Monday evening, February 2 and run until mid-2015, are needed to allow crews to safely conduct shaft and column work along the highway median for the planned rail guideway: · One eastbound left-turn lane from Kamehameha Highway onto Acacia Road fronting Pearl Highlands Center will be closed. For safety reasons, U-turns will be restricted in the eastbound direction of Kamehameha Highway at the Acacia Road intersection during the lane closure. · One westbound left-turn lane and the inside westbound lane of Kamehameha Highway near the Acacia Road intersection will also be closed 24 hours a day as part of the shaft and column work. Motorists who routinely use this stretch of Kamehameha Highway should provide themselves extra time during their commute. For updates on construction work days and times, visit the project website at www.honolulutransit.org or contact our hotline at 566-2299. -END- Media Contact: Scott Ishikawa, (808) 768-6172, cell: (808) 227-2350. |
