CITY YOUTH SERVICES CENTER NAMED 'BRIGHT IDEA'            (Fri., Oct. 1, 2010)--The City's Youth Services Center has been selected for the newly created Bright Ideas program at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.  In its inaugural year, the Bright Ideas Program spotlights exemplary models of government innovation and advances efforts to address pressing public concerns.             Honolulu's Youth Services Center is one of 173 government programs and practices that were selected from a pool of nearly 600 applicants.  Bright Ideas address a range of issues such as poverty reduction, environmental conservation, and emergency management. Acting Mayor Kirk Caldwell applauded the Youth Services Center for helping Honolulu's youth realize the importance of education. "I commend the dedicated youth staffers who work tirelessly to help our young people stay in school and seek further education," Caldwell said. "The staff develops positive and nurturing working relationships with the youth to keep them engaged in school and excited about entering college."
